The guys at Wild Boar originally contacted us to create a new web site for their Guns and Ammo division, which we did. Before we were half way through working on the site, we were asked if we could upgrade their ATV parts site as well. They loved the look of the Guns and Ammo site and also wanted to bring some of the functionality that the new site had to the ATV site. The ATV site was running a very old version of software which hadn’t been updated in a while so the challenge was on.
We started by making 3 different backup sites using their data and we began making sure that an upgrade was even possible. We ran several conversions on the data to insure that everything worked as expected and duplicated the process several times to insure that there would be no surprises.
After we were 100% satisfied that the upgrade was a success, we migrated everything over to a new server, shut down the old site and converted the data on one of our testing sites. Once the data conversion was completed, we moved the data over to the new server and brought the site online. The site was only offline for about 3 hours during the entire process and orders were coming in shortly after.
The new site offers a lot more features and allows them to better manage products, orders and more. Not to mention, it looks much more professional and has better navigation to help customers find that they are looking for. The newsletter creation process which use to take several hours now takes about 10 minutes to complete. The site also allows future integrating with eBay and Amazon to allow products to be listed with ease.
